"Blink of an Eye" titles
an installation of over five hundred distinctly different
paintings that
together form the image of tumbling clouds in a blue sky.
The paintings, which are hung in a grid pattern five panels
high and over one hundred across, assert their individual
purposes when the viewer moves closer. At this point the
'mural' image disintegrates and the allusive nature
of the separate paintings takes over.
The purpose
of the piece is to express the infinite nature of even
the most fleeting
of every day experiences and to explore the idea that what
one sees is largely a function of how one sees – how
experience and memory work to create one's reality even
as it unfolds.
By its very nature
this installation continues to be a work in
progress. No one arrangement of panels
is static or final. I can change
the dimensions of the work entirely and I continue to add
to the paintings involved. |
